The pandemic

Coronavirus and lockdowns

By now, we are all in the midst of various stages of lockdown. In your life, did you ever imagine that this was a possibility of the human condition?  Me neither. We are being asked to #StayHomeSaveLives in an effort to slow the transmission of the highly contagious and potentially deadly Covid-19 virus.

Normally, I would take the order of "stay home" as a delightful respite and welcome rest from a rat race-like schedule.  The problem is that... it becomes old after a while. One month in, and it's tedium.  You can only watch so many Netflix shows before you begin to wonder what you're missing out on out there.  You begin to crave hugs and human contact with people other than your immediate family. And most of all: You wonder WHEN or HOW life will ever return to how it used to be.

I guess we have all been asking ourselves whether a return to the "good ol' days" is truly the direction we should want to head.  In the good ol' days, our planet is on life support, our oceans are choked with plastic, our environment is gasping out for help.

Isn't it ironic that a virus has been unleashed that makes humans themselves gasp for breath and beg for mercy?  The planet has been requesting our attention for decades as its life has been slowly choked out of it.

Mother Nature, you have my full attention.
