Advertisers and marketing folks alike would have us believe that only one day of the year represents a day to spoil, or even acknowledge, someone. Personally, I think that these canned days are insulting both to our intelligence and integrity. If we need prompting to remember an important person, then perhaps we need to invest more than $3.95 worth of cardboard devised by a stranger into that relationship.
